About me

Welcome to my website! I'm psychotherapist, lecturer and trainer whose work is firmly grounded in a modern relational understanding of human experience.

My primary focus is psychotherapy. I work with individuals and couples facing a range of issues—such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, questions of identity—and other experiences of emotional suffering that leaves life feeling overwhelming, disconnected or constricted in some way.

My approach draws upon relational psychoanalysis, existential philosophy, developmental theory and person-centred values. At its heart is the belief that we become who we are through our relationships with others, and that healing occurs through new experiences of understanding, connection and recognition by and with others. Rather than locating problems primarily inside the individual, I understand distress as emerging out of the wider context of relationships, development, culture and meaning.

Alongside my clinical practice, I write and teach on psychotherapy, relational theory, philosophy and critical perspectives on mental health. Across this work I explore what it means to be human, to suffer and how psychological suffering is best understood. The central question I ask is: how can more relational and humanistic approaches to therapy enrich contemporary mental health practice?

Whether through therapy, supervision, writing or teaching, my work is united in a commitment to understanding people not as isolated individuals, but as fundamentally relational beings whose lives unfold within networks of relationship, history and meaning.
